This is my least favourite and least successful image because the focus in the image is quite bad and it also looks quite rushed. I took this image from the 2nd floor in one of the buildings (The lines are from one of the years art work), also there is not really any contrasting. To some this image up I feel that it is way to plain and boring and dull, to improve the picture I could of focused it more and maybe taken it from a different angle . Again this picture does not have any filter on the picture so there is no contrasting and no light or dark areas. I think that if I had a black and white filter for example then it will show the light and dark areas, also it could show more contrasting. |
I like this image because I feel like there is some movement in the image and the angle of the picture shows a lot of the school and the scenery of the school. I took this photo whilst standing on the first floor of the links. Also there is a deep depth of field because it stretches all the way back so you can see a building that was across the concourse.
Also the focus in the image is clear, it isn't blurred or fuzzy. As you can see the image is the original colour and has no filter on it, which I think makes a big difference in a photo as if it was black and white there could have been more contrasting and could of made the lighting look lighter or darker. |
Bruce Gilden
I think that this photographer takes very unique and in the moment images. For example, in this photograph, you can see he has just got the camera out and taken a photo of people crossing the road. I like this photo because it is in the moment and it is real life, no one is posing for the camera they are all just being natural. I also like the composition of the photo. Another thing that I like in this photo is the contrasting I like the light and dark areas and the fact that it isn't just light or just dark it's both.

Here is some of Bruce Gildens work. Bruce was inspired when he saw a michelangelo film, after he saw this film he purchased his first camera, after he purchased the camera he started taking night classes to learn how to be a good photographer and learnt about all types of photography but he decided to go with street photography. As you can see that he was really successful at street photography. |

Here are some photo's I took of what I think shadows reflections and lines should look like. At first it was quite difficult but after taking a few images I knew what to do. Some of these images turned out better then others, some images turned out very grainy and unclear or even blured. Also some of the effects that I put onto the images didn't work as well together as I originally thought that they would, for example the seventh image, the effect that I originally thought worked when it was on the ipod didn't look to good on the laptop as it is far too bright and you can barely tell what I was trying to take an image of as the bark is white. However the images that I put a black and white effect worked well as it created a contrast in the image, for example the image of the two girls, their faces are quite light but because of the black and white effect it has created a contrast against their jumpers and hair.
This is defiantly my favourite photo. This photo was based on cropping, I cropped out half of these two girls faces. I added a black an white filter on to this photo to show the contrasting within the photo and the light and dark area's, for example there is a lot of light coming in from the background where the sun is and there is dark areas where there was no sun hitting the stairs so that is the main dark area in the photo. Another thing that I like about this photo is the height difference of the two girls and how they are not posing to the camera it just looks very natural and not like someone has put it all together.

These are some of the photo's that I took of people walking/running, the theme that I was focusing on was walk on by. All of the pictures I took included some sort of movement which was either jumping, walking or running. When taking these images I was focusing a lot of the movements of each individual, it was quite difficult to get a clear images because they were moving, so I had to make sure I got the timing right.
This is defiantly my least favourite photo because it looks very messy and out together, even though there is some movement in the photo there isn't much and you can't really see the movement because it is to busy.
Also the angle of the photo it quite boring and this could have been made more interesting. Also the quality in the photo is very bad, in my opinion, because it is quite fuzzy and looks really murky. The one thing I do like about this photo is the lighting, at the top of the stairs where everyone was going there was a lot of light coming in from the windows the were at the end of the corridor but at the back where I am standing taking the photo it was quite dark and there wasn't much lighting coming in from any where because there was no windows. |
This was the best photo I took, because there was movement within the photo which went perfectly with the theme 'Walk on by'. Also this photo is very natural, I took this photo of one of the students that was running to there class. Also it is not very put together or nothing it is very casual and natural no one has made the boy do that it the photo was just taken in the moment.Another thing that I like about this photo is the lighting, the light and dark areas and this photo does not have any filter on it so this proves that a filter does not make every photo better.

After watching a 20minute clip of a film about street photographers and how they take there photo's, after we went out and had a try at doing some of our own street photography ourselves and be independent with no friends to help us or give us inspiration we had to do it completely on our own, we took photo's by using ipods so it wasn't the best quality but they still took good photos. This time we did it it was a bit different we opened out what we were doing, instead of just taking pictures of our friends around the school we took photo's of sixth formers doing there work and there work. I found this very awkward because we had to go up to 6 form students and just take pictures of them without asking and just take it randomly even if they didn't want us to, which is the main point of street photography but I thought that it was going to be very easy and all we have to do is take photo's of people and what there doing, it wasn't that easy because we didn't know how they were going to react.
This photo was properly my least favourite image because there isn't much movement going on in the photo also it doesn't really look very natural either and the lighting is very bad because of the windows behind the women at the desk. This could of looked a bit more interesting if the photo was at a different angle and if there was more movement within the photo because it does look a bit boring and nothing interesting or unique is going on.
Triangles On my own work
In this photo there is a clear triangle with the two girls at the top of the triangle and the boy being the tip making the triangle. Also the triangle is very clear, I don't think it looks like I have intentionally made them stand like this in my opinion, but to some people it may look like I have. I think that this photo is quite fun and there is some types of movement going on like the boy at the bottom putting his arms up in the air he did that the second i took the photo. |
This was one of my favourite images that I took because it wasn't planned didn't ask anyone to stand in that specific way or do a weird position it was just in the moment, the two girls at the top were taking a photo of what was gong on below. Also you can't really see there facial expression's it was just there silhouette because of the lighting in the background. Also I think that this image looks like it has been taken by a professional camera like a canon camera but it was only taken on an ipod which proves that you can take good photo's with an ipod.
This photo is also one of my favourite photo's because there is a lot of moment in the image with six people doing some sort of movement. Also I think that the lighting is perfect in this image also there is a lot of contrasting going on, on the floor there are light and dark area's on the people you can see there is light and dark on them, you can't really see the light on the people because this photo was taken from behind them so you could only see the the dark area's and all the light it coming from the big windows in front of the students.
Triangles on other peoples work
This image was taken by a man called Josef Koudelka, it is of three boys in a field breathing in, it is called skeleton boys. You can very clearly see in this images 3 points for the triangle one at the top a second one on the bottom left and the third point is on the bottom right. Also in the background you can see a girls silhouette standing by and wondering what exactly is going on. In this photo the boys look like skeletons which is quite grotesque but quite fun at the same time, it is a fun photo. |
Similarities
The similarities in these two photo's is there are groups of people going down the street, also the lighting is quite similar because of the sun behind the three girls shining and in the photo of the boys, the sun seems like it is shining on to the wall which is making the background quite bright.
Differences
The differences in these two photo's is that in one of the images there is only boys and men and in the other one there is only a few girls, also the girls are just walking to where the camera is and the boys are cycling in different directions. In half of the photo that the girls are in there is barely any light at all it is very dark but where the boys are the whole photo is light.
